The Charlotte is a one-tier pearl mantilla wedding veil in light ivory, cut from soft tulle to 300cm cathedral length. Pearls frame the front edge and scatter across the tulle, so the detail sits where it's seen — around your face as you walk down the aisle, and trailing behind you in photographs.

A mantilla is worn draped over the crown of the head rather than gathered high at the back, which is why it falls softly around the shoulders instead of standing away from them. Most mantillas are lace-edged; Charlotte uses pearl framing instead, giving you the same romantic silhouette with a cleaner, more modern edge.

Which dresses does the Charlotte suit?

A pearl mantilla works hardest against a gown it can contrast with rather than compete against.

  • Plain satin, crepe or mikado: the strongest pairing. A clean gown gives the pearl framing somewhere to sit without visual clash.
  • Beaded or pearl-embellished gowns: excellent, provided the pearl tones match — take the veil to your dress fitting to check them side by side.
  • Heavily embroidered lace: possible, but busy. If your gown is all-over lace, a plain cut-edge veil usually reads better.
  • Ball gowns and A-lines: the 300cm length carries the volume well and extends the line of the skirt.
  • Sheath and slip dresses: the veil becomes the drama, which suits a minimal gown.

How long is a cathedral veil?

At 300cm, Charlotte is a cathedral veil — it extends roughly 1 to 1.5 metres past a standard train and is the longest of the common bridal lengths. Choose cathedral for a formal church or ballroom ceremony where you want presence in the aisle and in photographs. If you're marrying on a beach, in a garden, or somewhere with wind and uneven ground, a shorter veil is easier to manage.

Common questions

Does the Charlotte veil have a blusher?

No. The Charlotte is a one-tier veil, which means there is no separate layer to wear over your face. If you want a blusher for the ceremony, choose a two-tier veil instead.

How long is a 300cm veil?

300cm is cathedral length — approximately 3 metres from the comb to the hem, trailing about 1 to 1.5 metres beyond a standard wedding dress train.

Will light ivory match my dress?

Light ivory suits ivory and soft ivory gowns. It will read slightly warm against a bright white dress. If you're unsure, send us a photo of your gown and we'll advise before you order.

How is a mantilla veil worn?

A mantilla sits draped over the crown of the head so the framed front edge rests around the face, rather than being pinned high at the back of an updo. It works with hair worn down, half-up, or in a low bun.
